D&E by any chance? If not, ideas on maker?

Would this be D&E? I can't get the hang of this "figure 8 puddling". This was at that same estate sale, a nice pin in its own right but completely unsigned. The chains are kind of distinctive on this. On top they are fixed, bottom ones dangle. The green rhinestones have open backs. Any idea of maker? Thanks.

I suspect I'd have adored it and spent a fortune!

 

A local legend of sorts passed away, much too young. She was known as the "jewelry lady" at garage sales, estate sales, etc. For decades she bought stuff --and she had a great eye for quality. She also had money, her husband owned a very successful business and she worked as well. She probably had hundreds of high end designer signed sets for example, closets full, boxes full. She was obsessed (like many of us) but had the time, the eye and the money to collect the better stuff, AND had been doing it for years and years.

I got notice that the sale was happening, I was a nervous wreck. Practically went on a fast preparing myself, lol -- clear head, lots of $, get there early, etc. etc.

Photos were posted later in the week and I was thinking, "Huh? Where is the high end stuff?" I mean there were 4 large tables of jewelry in the photos, but nothing looking like sets for example.

Well, there was no way I wasn't going. Got there plenty early, 1.5 hours before opening, I think the earliest I've ever gone to a sale. Already 9 people in line and another jewelry person who arrived just after me said that this company always pulls the better pieces before the sale. Darn! Well, implication was that they don't take it for themselves, but try to get the best price, maybe online or elsewhere. Some other person in line said he had made some of the pieces she bought (I guess he was a local silversmith working with turquoise, coral, etc) and that his pieces which originally sold for $350-$600 were now up for sale in a store that the estate sale company had some kind of arrangement with, for $1700 each. So it wasn't just the glitzy costume she bought. However, sounded like all the really good stuff would not be inside.

Doors opened, and sprinted to the jewelry in the covered case, but I already grabbed a piece at the same time as someone else who I'm friendly with, our two hands turned it over and saw the price on the back $60, she said, "do you want it?" and it wasn't that amazing plus didn't want to cause an argument, so I said, "no that's okay" and decided to go for the tables where I was the first to arrive. This is all in the first 20 seconds mind you.

(Eve, if you are reading this) I used your idea to bring a ziplock clear bag. This worked GREAT. I just grabbed anything that looked good. Tables were priced at $3-$8, and I got in my view anything worth buying on these tables. I might have missed this or that, but I'm pretty quick and having that bag helped. And I've been buying costume for decades, too, so just went for the more unusual to my eye.

It wasn't the haul of the century but considering that the best pieces had been removed prior to the sale, I think I still did okay. I spent a total of $78, which felt just about right. I'll have to post some of the other things.
