Featured Darby and Joan revisited

anyone remember darby and joan ?

forgot i had it, so decided to re photo cause the first ones were bad and didnt do it justice

so glad i didnt try to sell it, cause i love it. thought id share

my favourite part, darbys boots !

 

Probably before my time, Chesaroo, but I like it. Joan looks a bit indifferent to the situation, while Darby has that grin.

You know what they say about a man with big feet...

 

Darby : you know what today is dont you joan, its me birthday

joan : o gawd, what again ?

 

LOL!

 

I remember their previous appearance.

I would call them gaiters.

 

I remember my Mum talking about them ... Joy.

 

Gaiters, or Darby and Joan?

 

So would I.

 

Darby and Joan silverthwait .. Joy.

 

My grandfather had a pair of gaiters, actually HIS grandfather's. Snake protection I think it was...

REASONS TO WEAR GAITERS:

1. Snakes
2. Ticks
3. Fire ants
4. Style

(mowing day today)

 

Thornbushes, rocks....

 

And yet jivvy, maintaining a certain style some how ?

 

Or half chaps. I use them for anything that might batter my shins however I really have them to keep from being chaffed when riding. (or left from when I rode)

 

I have never seen an illustration of "Darby and Joan", but now I see why my grandfather always chuckled when my grandmother referred to a couple that share cropped one of our farms on Long Island.............their daughter worked in my grandparents house and the couple used to come in for visits on occasion............and that image could be them to the teeth if they were wearing 1930s clothing....................

 

It's like you live in my house. Not finished mowing or I'd show you my other shoes...

I'm not wearing those things joan, they look awful

Oooo but I tell you what, there not half comfy
