Featured Delft violin?

    This violin appeared today in a local antique shop. It appears to be tin glazed earthenware, and my feeling is it could be quite old. I’ve never seen anything quite like it! Would love to know the group’s thoughts about maker and age.

    Well that’s very interesting and cool. How big is it? Is it a full size thing?

    I'd never seen anything like that before but... A Google Lens search brings up many similars, including one in the Rijksmuseum.

    Yes, the size of a small real violin. It looks like it originally had strings, so may have been playable???

    Has no acoustic properties. If it did play, which seems very unlikely, it would sound awful.

    Speaking of which, it's missing a tuning peg.
