Featured Delinieres & Co Limoges creamer? Painted by hobbyist?

I hardly ever buy things these days, but I was next door to a consignment shop today and couldn't resist popping in to see what they had. And then couldn't resist buying this sweet creamer... for all of $4.00! It's a keeper for me, not to be sold anytime soon. :)

From what I saw on the web, it seems to be the mark for Delinieres & Co, from between 1894 and 1900... is that correct? Also, since it doesn't have an artist's mark it sounded like it was probably sold as a blank, possibly to the U.S. and painted by a hobbyist. Is that most likely it's history?

    Any thoughts very welcome!

Very nice, Pat! That would have been a keeper for me too. But what kind of consignment shop only priced that at 4 bucks? Definitely would have been in the teens (at least) here.

And I agree about it being a hobby painter's work.

There are always very few antique items in this shop. I don't know if it's because of the shop owners, the consigners, or the customers. The woman who was working there (not the owner) had no idea it was antique or hand-painted.

It's odd, too, because it's in a relatively upscale area in the middle of New England, where antiques aren't exactly scarce.

The few other pieces that looked possibly antique that I liked were also marked pretty low. If I had been looking for items to resell, I would have picked up more stuff.
