    In the boxes...

    DEMLEY! Not Demliey

I've gotten into a bunch of smoking paraphernalia. Many cases, lighters, match holders...pretty, and cool,
stuff. This is a weird one though. Clearly something that didn't catch on :cigar:

I found one reference to it, but it's on Worthpoint and I'm not a member. Does anyone know anything about this?

    Thanks!

Ps: more Sterling I didn't clean!

Hi, Rayo - in the (tiny) photo I found, it looks as if the smaller of the 2 pieces is the one that flips open at the end next to the spring (?)

(Sorry - I, too, am trying to figure it out!)

    edited to add:
Rayo, did you change your post? I was responding to something you said, and now it's gone! ;)

Does it fit into a pack and part flips open for access?

Yep - was designed to be used with the "soft packs" that crush so easily in your pocket. Used to have one someplace, as well as hard (silver and one post WWII aluminium one) cases that held a soft pack and had a hinged cover. I think I sold the entire "collection" of smoking related stuff a few years ago.

Ah. The modern replacement for a cigarette case.

They came about when the standard packaging for cigarettes devolved to a packet of twenty. Previously you could buy them in different quantities. I remember my mother opening a box of one-hundred and distributing them in holders and boxes before cocktail parties. I used to buy Dunhills, Rothmans, and custom Mat Shermans in boxes of fifty. THAT was why you needed a case..........and yeah, I have been known to fill my empty case from some momentarily absent hostess's cigarette box.............

Worth more than 1.99 today in weight alone.

They should have priced it at 9.99 with free shipping.
