paid 10$ for a large ziplock of costume jewelry, junk and some good stuff. This brass metal bracelet was inside. Operation "Support Operation" "Desert Shield" "Storm" (American flag) For the privacy of our armed service members who may be active duty the names on the inside are not shown. I have a friend who was in desert storm who may know these folks who signed it, so i am keeping it to ask them. Their military ID# is on back
This looks very like the POW/MIA bracelets that were prevalent during the Vietnam War. http://thewall-usa.com/bracelet.asp
These were made to show support for deployed troops. I have a stainless one for the Air National Guard unit stationed near my local airport. The original owner either knew the person whose name is inside or lived near him/her.
There are two peoples names inside of differing rank and sex, and one name has the troops# next to it which I doubt people back home would know or think interesting. It looks like it saw much use. Who knows who wore it when...
Interesting articles: http://archives.savannahnow.com/sav_pdf_archive/text/fr52/C_2304369.pdf (Sounds like several bases made their own and someone could have their family members names engraved on them. Nothing to do with POW/MIA status.) https://www.washingtonpost.com/arch...f0f-b388-745fa4d49785/?utm_term=.392695cb099f
