I went to the supermarket late this evening for one or two items I'd run short of.

The powers that be have turned off the road lights and car park lights due to gullible warming.
They have just spent a fortune converting all the lights over to LCD to save energy, and now when they are needed they've turned them off to save the planet.

So now the only lighting is from the shops and cars.

I walked back to my car and opened the rear hatch where Buzz was waiting with the interior LCD light on, and I saw a bright glistening on the tarmac.

Picked it up, and it was a large diamond set in a broken white gold or platinum prong setting.

The setting has severe road rash, so it's been there for some time, but the diamond was as clear as a (Diamond) :D

I don't know how many carats it is, but it's not your usual diamond chip bit of grit.

It tests positive on my diamond tester.

All I know is...thank goodness for gullible carp park lighting or lack of same. Otherwise Davey wouldn't have seen it. Looked like a full carat to me too.

Because they're meant to be worn...? I mean don't operate heavy machinery or power tools. Probably not when cooking, washing, or anything groady... but shopping tends not to be a heavy duty activity usually. :p

Seems like this one got wrenched off that setting though... I'm not sure how she kept her finger. Or maybe she didn't....:nailbiting:

Well , I don't know about you , but I do the shopping around here....& I'm quite good at it , which means I'm using my hands a lot ... picking up , putting down, pulling stuff out from under , out from the back, sorting thru fruits and vegys , placing everything in the cart and then packing it all up ..... ect....

a ring, with a high stone......... not on my watch...!

& in todays world.... unless I'm shopping in a wealthy area ..... I ain't showing off my gold & jewels !!

Shouldn't you report your find? Diamonds are linked to memories of loved ones. Some poor woman could be frantic about the loss. She could have been in an accident. As if that wasn't bad enough she lost a precious gem as well, maybe given to her by someone who passed away.
    Quite high.

We have a site here called Blues & Two's where people put found items on.
I'm going to put it on there but no picture.
I need the loser to describe the carat and what setting it is and where lost.

I guess my shopping isn't as arduous as yours. :playful:

I wouldn't get a high setting on anything that wasn't a cocktail ring anyway since they're annoying.

I wear my gold all the time. I don't imagine anyone thinks it's real anyway. :p My MIL only likes "big stones" but is a saver so every one of hers are fake.

    Nice find, Davey!
An old friend once told me to always look down when walking on sidewalks, paths etc. for lost jewelry.

I can trade you 2 Mercury dimes for it. :)

I was watching AR and a person had a medal from the Boston Red Sox, from somewhere around 1915-16. It was supposed to have a diamond in it but the diamond was missing. The reviewer told the owner "you can have another one installed". Although that may be correct, wouldn't a stone from 1916 be more valuable than one from 2025??

if it was insured then likely they've already collected......
& hard to describe the ring...with most of it gone...no ?

maybe it was wrenched loose from a broach or pendant..... how could you tell ?
