This is another piece of art I found in a doctor's storage unit a friend & I won at auction yesterday. Can anyone make out the artist's name? (He creates doctor art & even signs like a doctor!).
Also - it says it's #214 of 250 but then there is a roman numeral IV - does that mean this limited edition was reprinted in runs of 250 four more times? Seems that would drop the value (and meaning) of a limited edition print?
    Thanks!

The IV might indicate a series number.

And it would date to 1973 (or after) which is when Volume 289 of the New England Journal of Medicine was published.

Interesting that it also has IV after the print number.

LiveAuctioneers.com has a few sold/passed lots of his.

Makes everyone else's prices seem... unrealistic.

Knowing Dean personally: It was a limited print, only 250. The Roman numeral refers to the number of themed (medical) silk screen original designs.
I have several originals that I'd be happy to share if anyone wishes. He was a gifted artist who possessed a strong sense of design.
PS. Dean took this photo in the late 80's. His image is reflected within the left lens of my sunglasses. :)
