These batiks were purchased in Singapore '65 to '68, believed to be Indonesian...

Is that a signature at the bottom of the last one? Any chance of a close-up pic of that?

They are lovely, and I agree, they look Indonesian. Are there any labels on the backs?

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

It's interesting that the frames all have similar sorts of white strips around the images. A style of the times, in that part of the world? I thought they were paper mats at first but most seem to be even with the edge of the frames. Or maybe I'm seeing things.

    Welcome to Antiquers, @Timor Martin

The frames were made by my father from teak crates all the household goods got shipped home in from Singapore. I’ll work on getting a close up of the signature

Oh, I understand. It does help to unify the look of them, as if they all go together. Your father did a good job.

if you don't find someone here then you could still ask in a museum with specialists that may give you hints in the right direction for further research.
Museum of Cultures in Basel is one of the best on the continent.

If you want to ask a museum, I think it would be better to go to the source, either in Indonesia or Malaysia.

This is a museum devoted specifically to batik paintings. It is in Penang, Malaysia, but they also have works from Indonesia.

The 'Museum Tekstil Jakarta', the national textile museum of Indonesia. Its collection is more ethnographic than modern art, but they may be able to help.

I think the Penang batik painting museum is your best bet.
