Does anyone know what this is or when it is from?

    I found this at a thrift store and thought it looked old. If not, I guess it’s still cool?? Does anyone know what it was used for and when? At first I thought it was a strange candle holder...

    I just looked at pictures of those. I don’t believe it is. I keep trying phrases on google like...”wooden device that applies wax to thread”, etc...lol...and cannot find an image of one
