A dragon is etched on the inside and it seems to be very well done I just have never seen one like this. It measures 8 7/8"x 2 3/4"x 7/16". If anyone knows about what it is or approximate age I would appreciate it. Thank you

And while you're at it, it would help to give dimensions - how long, how wide and how deep.

The design is crude and the chasing quality is poor.

Pen tray? Brush tray? Probably meant for export to dumb Brits and Americans who wouldn't know better.

A lot of this chased brass ware with dragons, big Chinese characters, etc, was made in China ca 1900-1920. Hard to tell from the photos if this one is from that period.
Photos taken in daylight against a light background are usually best, if you want us to judge items.
