I don't think a NA would use man made stones and dyed agate,etc...

A modern silversmith might, if he or she (but it's generally a He) liked the colors. (and got the stones dirt cheap in an auction lot or something)

Can't say I'm too surprised, but I was always under the impression that traditionally silversmiths out that way were the males.

There is a Face Book group which makes projects from Alan Revere's Professional Jewelry Making book.People buy the book and work through the projects, many in the group are female. They have also made videos that anyone can access,The projects really didn't interest me since I have completed similar projects in college.

I think it’s US Southwestern and Anglo over NA although it basically looks NA to me. The mixed stones are unusual IMO too and whenever many see Azurite the first thought goes to Mexico but that piece just looks American to my eye. I like it. The stamps are definitely not typical of Mexico relative to anything I’m familiar with and I collect both Mexican and NA jewelry.

    The azurite/malachite is man made.

    Agree.
    Ditto.:)
Some NA makers have embraced manmade opals with great gusto, so I expect other manmade stones wouldn't be a problem to them.:playful:
Absolutely! Many husband and wife teams as well.

This is by a maker I used to know personally, Charles Loloma's niece and all round wonderful person Verma Nequatewa:

How can you tell so I can tell. I would think those were so cheap they you wouldn’t use fake. Wow!

    Holly is right.
Here in the Southwest, NA jewelry making is the family business.
Grandparents, Mom, Dad, and even the little kids start by making easy silver BBs for the details. Generally, the NA makers don't have websites. They have relationships with gallery owners, and sell to them in person.
Non-Native silversmiths do commonly have websites.
And I personally know many women silversmiths. I am a hobbyist, but many of my friends are making a living at it.
Here are just a few from my neck of the woods

The fake might be more stable, and comes in precut pieces and sizes to make it easier to work with. Lots of modern jewelry is made of lab opal for just those reasons, so I can see them using lab azurite/malachite for the same reasons.

And I think it’s Navajo although you can’t claim that.
