This picture was hanging on the wall in my great grandparent’s house in the late 60’s. I was just wondering if anyone could help me identify it.

Impossible to tell from your photograph. Could be by someone like Romero Torres or could be a decorative painting from a period when all things Spanish were exotic and in vogue. Are you able to post better quality photographs?

No, The book is called like that. Many authors / publishers used artworks from different artist for their book covers. `The picture still needs research to establish the artist.

I guess you already know that this highly likely is a print. But it will be a fun search and at least you will know what you have hanging on your wall.

I think that is the actual artist and painting name but I could be wrong. I searched his name and the Black Mantilla and it showed other artwork of his and the same print from another site that had his name as the painter. We don’t have the print anymore, but I’ve seen it in the background in so many family photos and always wondered what it was called

To combine different replies... looks to me like either Spanish or 1960s teased hair.

Enrique Dorda Rodriguez, was born in 1869 (some sources imply that he was born in 1871) in the city Léon, Spain. He studied at the Real Academia de Bellas Artes de San Fernando in Madrid and at the Academy of Valencia. He spent some time in Havana (Cuba) and, from 1928 until his death (with interruptions for travels), in New York. Enrique Dorda Rodriguez was chiefly active as a portraitist. He successfully exhibited at the annual Madrid Academic Exhibitions of 1895, 1897 and 1927.
