Doll

  1. I found this doll in my mother's things when she passed. I believe it may be the only doll I had as a child and have wondered about for 45 years. Does anyone know an approximate date of the doll or the name or maker? IMG_3344.JPG IMG_3345.JPG

Dolls sometimes have a maker's name or information on the back of the neck. Any chance this one does?

  4. I did not see a name on the back of the neck but I will have my husband look. My eyesight is very bad.

    And thanks for the welcome!

    Hi,
When I look at this doll I am seeing an Afro-American look with later painted blue eyes. Perhaps it is the angle of the photograph.

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

I had forgotten the name of the original for which this is a repro. Good ID! My mother told me about these dolls (she has collected dolls for many years). It's amazing how much the Bye-Lo-Baby was reproduced. My mother has a few repros also.

  13. I appreciate the replies so much! It at least gives me an idea of what kind of doll it is. I will have my husband look for markings on the back if the neck (I am nearly blind and cannot see them).

The doll has no clothes, but I will make something soon. I will give it to my granddaughter some day. Thank you all.
