I see most D & H pieces with these characters are described as “labors of cupid”. Would these musicians fit that description also? Spent an hour polishing, looks so much better.
Thanks komo, wasn’t too bad, I let the polish and cloth do most of the work. Can’t imagine polishing all the nooks & crannies though.
He does, but now it squeaks - out of grease! Wouldn't call these labors, just cupid musicians. But maker could have name for design different from one I would have assigned.
Don't know whether you saw this on Replacements. Tray matching your piece and they are calling it Labors of Cupid too. Haven't found any flatware with these musicians, but since it was a multi-motif pattern, they might have been reserved for use on fancy servers. https://www.replacements.com/webquote/dhslac2.htm
Thanks Bronwen and Bakers! It’s from $avers. From the finds thread after Housefuls vase. https://www.antiquers.com/threads/finds-thread.137/page-763
Thanks! Nice match! Just noticed that one is described as hollowware where as mine is solid, base and top.
$2.99??? $2.99???????????? Wow.... Just wow! (I may just need to visit a thrift store again... It's been AGES.)** **edited to add: It's been about a year - exactly! https://www.antiquers.com/threads/i-went-to-a-thrift-store-first-time-ever.19205/#post-260914
In the silver tableware world, anything that is not "flatware" is referred to as "hollowware" whether it is hollow or not.
