Domino Set with Odd Eagle Logo... Airline?

Discussion in 'Antique Discussion' started by Anthony Cultreri, Nov 21, 2020.

  1. Hi, and thanks for your help! I have come into the possession of a domino set in a wooden box. The tiles have a red eagle logo that I cannot seem to match up. At first I thought it might be NAA. The box looks old, velvet lined with brass hinges. There was a domino company called “Red Eagle”, but I’ve seen no examples of a logo anything like this. Any clues? Thank you!

A common symbol among nations worldwide. It looks similar to one used by Nazi party, but I doubt there is a connection, the box looks newer. But you said it looks old. How old is the box that is good question.

Maybe promotional, advertising material. I also can’t find this logo anywhere.

    Third Reich? :bag:

Seems to me if there was a company called the Red Eagle Domino then fairly likely this is one of their sets, no?

Red Eagle Domino logo looks different, unless they were experimenting until defined current logo look.

I am definitely wrong about Nazi symbolism. At one moment it reminded me of that, being red and all that.
One thing that is telling me that these may not be very old are rounded edges. It seems that older dominos at least one I played with as a child have sharp edges.

There was a company called Magna that made dominoes and had a eagle logo but, so far as I can see, not the same eagle.

    Most unusual, extended wings.

My immediate reaction to it was a thunderbird. Not to say there's any Native American connection.

I thought Thunderbird, too. Geek thinks it's possibly a Chinese airline, he's gone to look.....
