Found this at my local thrift store a few days ago - I think it was the top to something because the bottom of the base is slightly smaller than level above it; like it fits into something?
Any idea what this is or where it's from?
Either way, goofy but cool huh?
    Thanks!

Don't know if it fits into something as the 2 back edges look to have negative draft on them and the Claws seem to hang over the front edge preventing a nice fit! Who knows

Fingers stop at edge of upper piece - it could fit into something if it was meant as a top or lid.
Too small for a lawn ornament isn't it?

Are you sure it's pottery? Somewhere around here is a resin gargoyle that I think is just like it - my Mom purchased it new from some catalog, maybe 20 years ago...

Maybe it's just the pictures then - looks like this finger is sticking down over the edge.

When Mom bought hers like this one years ago, along with some other gargoyles (it was a short-lived interest, but gave us a new gift option for her), they were identified as to where the design came from - so thanks for reminding me of the origin of that one...
