    The grounds of Donnington Priory with its abundance of flora and fauna offer the perfect place to explore. Join us at our auction preview of The Spring Sale and while away a few hours viewing the sales, enjoying a coffee and delicious treat at our on-site café and wandering around the beautiful grounds.

    OLD MASTER, BRITISH AND EUROPEAN PAINTINGS INCLUDING SPORTING ART

    The first of two fine art auctions taking place on 3 April, starts with a beautiful collection of Sporting Art. Amongst the works on offer is a small collection of sporting pictures from the estate of internationally acclaimed racehorse trainer, the late Peter Walwyn MBE, and a selection of work by artist Roy Miller.

    This year’s Spring Interiors sale is split into two days with Day One featuring three specialist sections dedicated to European ceramics and glass, decorative arts post 1860 as well as country sporting items. Day Twoincludes the usual mix of Dreweatts’ Interiors - furniture, carpets, works of art, lighting and clocks - with lots spanning from the 17th century up to the more elaborate Regency and Victorian periods.

    WORKS ON PAPER FROM THE ISLAMIC AND NEAR EASTERN WORLDS

    The sale contains a wide selection of rare and fine printed books and manuscripts, with 114 lots ranging from the fifth to the early twentieth century AD.

    Highlights include a grand and early manuscript collection of Persian poetry by Nur ad-Din Abd’ul Rahman Jami, known as the Haft Awrang (lot 78, est. £7,000-10,000), from fifteenth-century Timurid Persia.

    MARY HARE
    We are delighted to announce that Mary Hare School for deaf children is our charity of the year for 2019.

    Mary Hare plans to build a brand new, bespoke Primary School on its site near Newbury, Berkshire. The whole project will cost £6 million and the School aims to raise half of this from a fundraising appeal.

    Dreweatts will be collaborating with the school on a variety of fundraising initiatives over the coming months including a charity art auction in September.

    Already consigned: ‘Flanders Mud’ is a powerful work by Philip Blacker, the renowned contemporary equestrian sculptor. This large bronze is the fourth cast of what was to be an edition of six, but Blacker has decided to make this cast the last one, as he turns his attention to new projects. The first three sold privately, so the opportunity to secure one of these bronzes is unlikely to arise again soon.
