Cute little Dutch pillbox. I've never seen a pillbox shaped like this before. And this is only the second of this type that I've ever come across. This was going dirt-cheap, so I bought it! :)

The lid had some nasty, nasty dents on the star when I bought it. With a folded handkerchief as a pad and a steel chopstick as a mandril, I was able to press them out.

Here you can see the dents in the star: Top left, top right, bottom left. The bottom left one is the most noticeable...

    After an hour's careful pressing...

...and this is the result! :)

Well restored, but this one I would call a pill box.
Snuff box designs were optimised for pinch taking, an oblong design facilitated taking a pinch even when almost empty. Form follows function.

Pillbox? Snuffbox? I dunno. Now I think about it, you're probably right, though. It'd be bloody hard taking a pinch of snuff out of this!! :D

Glad you like the efforts I put into fixing it. I like pressing dents out, but they can be fiddly...

Shangas, that is so pretty. A job well done!!!

Two questions: do you "hire out"? Do I have to feed you loads of special/exotic food if you come to stay for more than a day to get out all of the dents and dings in my household belongings????? ;) :shame:
