Dutch Scene oil painting signed R. Kratto or Krott Help with signature rather old looking

    I see the same as you do, Mugz.
    The costumes are a mishmash of slightly authentic dress from different regions of the Netherlands.

    Being a secretary for so many years had me guessing and trying to decipher signatures all the time. The signature looks like R Krotter to me.

    Looking up R. Krotter in LiveAuctioneers database shows a number of Dutch landscapes and seascapes, same style as this. $100-$325 hammer price. Per LiveAuctioneers, "R. Krotter was a 20th century artist known for Dutch genre landscape."

    When I came across these painting this morning there was 2 of them by R. Krotter with similar scenes. When I did a google search I came up blank. Did u seach within the invalueble web site? Thanks again Inh I will search Paine Furniture Co, these were framed in New York and their current location is in New York.

    Thanks for finding the comparable AmericanGeode. The pair were a bit expensive. but less than 100.00.

    My guess would be that the Mediterranean painting would be the high end.

    Thanks, but it wasn't that thread. We had one with a 'Dutch' flowermarket some time ago, but it must have been someone else's.

    He loves seaside flowermarkets, doesn't he?;) I've never seen one by the sea, but you never know.
