Hi everyone! I purchased a 4" silver box, gilt silver on the inside. It's pretty lightweight so I'm thinking it's silver and not silverplate. But maybe I'm wrong? There are only two hallmarks: one of an N inside a circle and another with a shield that has cursive Ls all over it. Any ideas. It looks Dutch to me but I suppose it could also be Austrian or German. Thank you in advance! box1.jpg box2.jpg box3.jpg box4.jpg box5.jpg box6.jpg box7.jpg box8.jpg

I'm pretty sure that your "Dutch marks" are actually from Hanau and are pseudo-marks.

Thanks Dragonfly! I appreciate it. Do you know what the silver content of this piece is?

It should be at least .800 fineness.
