I just ordered this spoon. I don’t expect anyone to be able to tell the maker. The Seller thought its JH. I see an M or W.
Anyway I will try to figure that out when I receive it.

Can anyone say anything about the other marks, please. I did try, but those letters made me nuts. Also doesn’t the head look off?

    Thank you for looking!:shame:

See example B and the notes for it below. https://www.925-1000.com/Fnetherlands_Date_Code.html

The date letter is the script K - 1819! An oldie!

I cannot see what is in the top-most punch. Is that where the seller said the letters JH appear (and where you see a W or an M?

Thank you Bakers, (I thought so, but I didn’t want to be disappointed.)
Please don’t stress over the makers marks. When I receive I will try to get better photos. I am very pleased, so far.

Huh. Looks like 3 little letters. But I agree with your plan - wait until you can take your own pictures.

That mark is a real 'toughie.....I think the 'W' is plain enough.....but the other two....seems anybody's guess.....might need to wait until you have it in hand.....I couldn't do ANY better than what you have ......"could" "MAYBE" be a "J".... Pretty, though!!!!!

Lion Passant with #2 under it is, I think, the Dutch mark for 830 silver. Or something like that. Lion Passant with #1 underneath is for Sterling.

It is a beauty, inh, very nice detail.
Probably 2 little letters with a symbol at the top, that is what Dutch maker's marks of the period usually look like.
    You talking to me?:playful:
Love the shape. It is a shape you don't see that often, so good choice.
The spoon's shape and decoration are very much Dutch Empire style. Dutch Empire is a Classic Revival style, the modest sister of the French Empire style. Think Napoleon I era and the following years.
Empire is pronounced the French way, ahmpéér.:D

Looking forward to your own photos.:)

For this period Lion Passant with #2 is .833, Lion Rampant with #1 is .934, slightly higher than sterling.:)

Very difficult to photograph, and I’m not sure of proper orientation.
I will try to get some better when there’s more light here, it’s cloudy.

The Minerva seems to have a D or a P. Maybe someone can tell me the town?
Or is that a sideways 4? Very Frustrating! :rage:
