Hello Friends, I bought this today for $15 at a yard sale. It is a watercolor and I would like to know what kind of painting this is called . Also any auction results for his or her work ?

    Thank You

    I'd call it "impressionist."

Like much amateur art, I would describe this by its features and forget about to trying to squeeze it into an established art category.

It's an experiment of a young artist. Let it be of interest on its own merits.

Billy, could the name be E. Breker?

The style is typical of the 1980s, when there was a transition from Modernism to Post-Modernism. People became bored with Minimalism and conceptual art, and returned to figurative art.
1980s figurative art is rather 'abrasive', it is called Neo-Expressionism. Expressionism refers to the expression of feelings and emotions in art.
Your watercolour could be regarded as Neo-Expressionist, although of a more gentle kind than usual.;)

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

Could be Breker, but it seems like Becker to me.

Certainly "in the spirit of" -- wonderful phrase! -- but she looks a bit young to have been painting in 1987.

Billy, there is contact information on her web site. If you plan on reselling, it would be best to confirm with her that it is indeed her work.

I don't think it is by her either. Her current work is not typical of Neo-Expressionism, and she could be too young to have painted like this in 1987.

Agree and the crossed 7 would lead one to believe artist European.
