EARLY VICTROLA w/WOOD CONE - REAL?

I found this at a local thrift store today - $50 because cone is broken. But while I think the speaker/cone may be real I am wondering about the Victor talking machine - I can't find where the cone goes into the phonograph!
It works great - wind it up and it spins (and brake it with lever on left), but I need to know if it's real or a copy, and where the cone goes.
Paper tag on bottom says it's #001245 - is this (if real) a early model & any idea what year it is?

I don't see the metal tag - I will check under turntable tomorrow & hope it's there.

 

It looks like the front opens up to expose an internal horn. I don't think that horn goes with it. I'm not seeing where it would attach.
