    Yes, Mexican. Maker JGC from Mexico DF (federal district, Mexico City). Before 1980.
    The maker is mentioned in my sources, but not identified.

    Or man made glass.;) Not unusual in Mexican jewellery, which is why I didn't comment on the material.

    Seconded. Since obsidian is naturally occurring glass, even a gem tester won't help. Most smaller Mexican makers aren't known.

    I have a ring of the same design, only a red stone, definitely Mexican like JA said! Nice design! I always found the ball on the back curious. I supposed it was to keep the ring from rolling on the finger. So, why would it be on earrings ? Just used the same pieces and added tops?
