Featured Easily my best of 2023 - Timing was everything

Good Evening Everyone,

I'm so happy I get to share a post with you tonight, this was a thrift store find that had me in disbelief for most of the day. I struck out today with a plan to visit thrift stores for about 6 hours today, and on my second store of the day a miracle happened. This was a store that I've been to plenty of times, and I typically have a "route" I take through a store. With the exception of the clothing section, my route leads me through every aisle. I was making my regular journey, and I had just left the section that has all the silverplate junk; I was heading for the furniture/electronics section. On my way to that side of the store, I passed one of the employees with a cart who was heading back to the aisles I just came from. I quickly scanned the cart and on the lower level I saw a few items with potential (obviously could have been plated). Without being too intrusive, I turned around and walked behind the employee, and once they stopped the cart and started offloading items I took a closer look at the two items that caught my eye..........and just like that I was holding a plate that said sterling, and an amazing looking centerpiece bowl that said HAYDEN & WILDEN.

I was ecstatic and didn't even look up the Hayden & Wilden while I was in the store. I decided to continue my journey to the electronics; I took longer than usual because I figured I'd stick around and see if anything else came out. So glad I did; after waiting awhile I went back to the silverplate junk section and scored a big sterling bowl. I figured that was all the silver gods were offering today, so I went and made my purchase and went to a bunch of other stores throughout the day. I did loop back to the store at the end of the day just to be safe, but these three are insane so I'm very happy with what I got:

Wheeeeeee! The Silver Gods were with you today! I didn't find much of any today and now I know why. Mr Nate got it all! WOOT!

 

I hope my silver never ends up for pennies at a thrift store........but if it should.....I hope one of you finds it !

My husband and i are finding incompetence in nearly every business we have dealt with lately. From delivery people to orders being filled . We have many customers in business for themselves and they tell us horror stories of those they have hired. We had a rifle that was shipped. The address and our name was perfectly legible , but because the little square they scan was not legible, the Fedex employee looked up our name in the computer and changed the address to our old store front that has been closed for 4 years!Go figure. May we hope that the incompetence is spreading to Thrift stores!
