Hey everyone what can you tell me about this chair before I buy it. I probably will buy it, the patina looks to make it pretty genuine.

The painting of the bird is too unique for me to pass up, it’s absolutely lovely.

If you are calling the seat "rattan" - it's not. That's caning. Caned seat. Nice chair!

Correction number one...I’ll go look up the difference :)

I like it too, hopefully he’ll deliver the short distance to my house

Btw, The caning has been hand-done, which you can tell from underneath. So many times the chairs that have been "restored" (or just made to look old), have that press-in type (no holes for the caning.) It is expensive to do (I had 2 antique chairs with damaged seats re-caned back in the 80's. The caning cost more than the chair frames!) But I still have them!!

I think this may be early, even Georgian - or an Edwardian copy. Lovely. Grab it. Yeah, there's a tendency here to call those seats rattan, I've done it myself, but strictly, it's hand caned. A pound a hole to restore easily.

Very good buy, it is gorgeous and a steal for £20.
If it were Continental European I'd say ca 1840-1860, but European Island and Continental styles don't always correspond.

Hope so not much way of telling but not unusual to see French furniture in England all the time. I wouldn’t specify if I sold it anyway.
