Just because we all love trying to identify black jewellery;).
Ebony is a WAG but really not sure.
They are either recent or have been recently restrung but the beads have a lot of wear on them.
Every piece is a different shape, there isn’t any grain to the substance and it doesn’t mark white paper.
Fairly light for the volume and is cool to the touch but definitely not cold.
A finger nail makes no impression but a sharp blade does with some pressure.
The broken edges almost look like stone but it feels like wood.
Not important to know but it bugs me when I don’t!
    Any ideas?
    Thankyou :)

I had a necklace from Mexico that was made of tiny black birds. When I got it I was told it was graphite. It looked similar to this. I gave it to a friend who makes jewelry.

Ooh, I had the same necklace except I think it was some sort of pottery.

    Maybe that's why I thought of @Taupou . :woot:

    Think this is it.
Not exciting but at least it’s solved a mystery.

I think KSW got it right, though I'm not an expert on jewelry.

    Oh, I agree.

    But. Ya know. Co-co-nut.

It's not an unknown material for jewelry, just so not where I thought we were headed.
