According to the information on the web, Ed Milligrock (1953-2003) was an Inupiat carver and scrimshaw artist and had lived on Little Diomede Island, Alaska. He began learning the art of walrus ivory carving from his father, Dwight. He specialized in carved jewelry. He perished in a house fire. (This information was from his obituary)

I acquired a damaged highly polished bone piece of his work. It is signed. It is 3 1/2 inches tall and 2 1/2 inches on the long side. Unfortunately, it has a large crack that bisects the signed side. Does anyone have a suggestion on how to prevent further cracking?

Also I attached a couple of photos of an unsigned soap stone carving that has a damaged foot and deep scratches. Probably tourist tat, but I thought he was very nice.

the crack goes all the way thru....there's nothing you can do about it. !

It should not crack further because the stress has been released..
