The trouble with selling off some of my junk through auction rooms is that I keep seeing things to buy. And saying 'contra this, please' does not seem like spending money.

I took a fancy to this oak cabinet because I like the quality (it has a Bramah lock for one thing) and appearance and condition, and it will actually come in handy for a place to store all the bits of paper that are currently all over the place.
It needs a pair of square silver mounted inkwells, just for show, but that's not difficult. It cost about £120, not dead cheap but reasonable as I am not looking to sell it for a profit.

I doubt I would have walked by it either.

There were a couple of very similar ones on UK ebay that sold for twice what I paid so I probably did alright.

and neither of them have the original Bramah key which mine has.

This is a bit geeky but has pictures of Bramah keys. Collectors will pay $10 - $20 each for them, far more if you can find a lock and key.

    Hi AF,
Thank you for the views of the locks and keys. Ours are much simpler since many keys fit the locks and work on other things. My old door key fit and worked my Empire desk and two other bureaus. I must admit it was easier having only one key
to fit several pieces. Your lock and key are beautiful in their own right.

Very nice. I rarely see things like that around here and when I do, the prices are much higher. Thank you for posting the information on the lock, I found it very educational.
