Need help with this signature, also, perchance, identification of subject. I'd say Shakespeare but it would be pretty farfetched. Any whelp would be greatly appreciated, thx.. shake2.jpg shake1.jpg

It looks like Shakespeare to me too. Looks done with oil crayons or cray-pas, looks like student work. If that's a date at the bottom, I doubt it to be 1935. You haven't shown enough detail of the rest of the surface, but it may have an undercoat of paint, or it may be all paint. Without more views, it's hard to say what the medium is, hard to be sure it's not a print.

Looks to me like "... de la Suzy" so maybe it is the work of Suzy the student?

If you want to post up more detail pictures, please also show photos of the back. Let us know where you got this piece too..

Did it come in a frame? What does the frame look like? Is there anything on the back?

Doesn't look enough like most of the Shakespeare images I saw online to convince me. But of course there are no photos of the bard so who knows whether any are actually a good likeness anyway.

Very likely a copy of a period portrait.
