    From my collection:

I don’t care what they say, Elvis is still king around here!

This is a 1957 RCA Records 45 rpm Canadian first pressing of the Elvis Presley/Jailhouse Rock EP.

It has stood the test of time both musically, and condition-wise.

So, Maven - have you been able to watch any of the Ken Burns' series about Country Music? (I'm not sure whether your TV choices include any PBS stations from border communities.) A number of the artists you love have been featured - and Brenda Lee is even providing occasional commentary!

Oooh that sounds right up my alley. I am a huuuuge documentary geek. I absolutely love stuff like that. That’s me, classic movies & documentaries about just about anything, especially pop culture subjects, thanks for the tip @Bakersgma

Elvis - what a nice boy, with a beautiful voice. I visited Graceland once. So worth it!

That’s next on my music city list I’ve been to New Orleans & Nashville, I want to see Memphis & Graceland first hand though.

I think it's 16 hours' worth. 8 2-hour sessions. Last night was the 4th one and they were covering Johnny Cash and Elvis (among others of course.)

Now I would not say that I'm a "country and western" fan, but there's hardly a song or an artist they've mentioned that I didn't hear in my childhood.

I love most genres of music, I like country, but mostly the old school artists like Cash, Williams, Cline....that’s when the music was truly real.

MY father said he LOATHED him ... called him a cream-puff with no voice, but I caught him more than once listening to his Gospel songs ... Joy.

I think Elvis broke down a lot of barriers

And that's the early period they've been covering so far. When they move into the more "modern" period, I suspect I'll lose interest. ;)
