    Hello Experts,

I have acquired a silver plate (assumed) antique water pitcher. Assuming it is not sterling. The metal does not attract even the strongest neo magnet. 11" tall and holds a quart of liquid.

The word "Empress" is stamped on the bottom. I searched extensively for more info on this company and found nothing. 20181205_142722.jpg 20181205_142754.jpg 20181205_142832.jpg

Please help determine if it is sterling and possibly an age. 1930's?

Thank you in advance for your help!

Your assumption that it is plated is well founded. Why even ask how to determine if it is sterling?

I can't find any company by the name Empress, although I did find a "trade name" listing in Rainwater for "Empress Ware" made by New York Stamping Co. The picture she gives of the related mark is nothing like what's on your piece.
