I was gifted this spoon (total length abt 4 in) by an extended in-law from India. I can't quite make out all of the writing -- possibly Urdu, Farsi, Arabic?

I was thinking to upcycle/repurpose this piece, however I don't want to mess with it if it has some intrinsic value.

Any information or advice where to look for more info would be great!

Think it's Egyptian. That looks like Nekhbet on top of the handle & think I see an 800 silver mark below her on the back.

@Bronwen, I enlarged the area I think you were talking about.....I'll let YOU be the judge as I don't know if it's English or not......to ME, it COULD say "ISF"???????

Actually looks like there could be the lotus that is the national mark for Egypt, followed by a date letter. This sort of thing:

Can't say I'm seeing any Egyptian silver marks (first part of mark is unclear, to my eye, it's followed by 'SF'), and it's almost certainly worn silverplate on brass. These aren't particularly uncommon with either Egyptian or Ottoman/Turkish finials, the 'stones' would be glass, and the bowl a clumsy copy of a 17th century Ottoman Empire coin. I have one with a crescent & star somewhere, but believe this is the first I've seen with a mark, suspect these spoons were of German manufacture, but really no proof whatsoever.

No intrinsic value, but probably a bit of collector value...
