I think with my newby experience think maybe early 19th Century.

The markings are unclear and the best as shown.

Looks like Meissen crossed swords to me. But wait for others to chime in.

    also not an expert.

But, copying has always intrigued me, so I read a bit: if it is real, the star dates it circa 1774 ... and further reading said, paraphrasing, that 'star' mark is one of the more commonly forged marks, and then this site caught my eye:

Is it oval? No idea. [Edit: I think the site meant an actual oval with the word Meissen in it. so N/A here]
    so.

It bothers me the two dots are there. And can't find much on why they are.
It bothers me that the reflections show 'incised' areas on the mark and pits elsewhere...
the painting isn't gilded. the 'wow factor' isn't there...

But, that's just a non-Meissen collector skeptic talking. Always question, always look at the whole. Then ask an expert who's touched them.

Doesn't get you your answer, does it?

The decoration is unfired, speaks of shoddy manufacture. IHMO.

and if its a lemon, turn it to lemonade, b/c even forged money can have value now-- if it's old enough and there's a collector for it. I had no idea who Edme Samson was, apart from the article [edit: written, not figurine] above ... but apparently that forger's stuff is now collected.

I really doubt it's a Samson copy, they're far better quality. I agree it's not well made - and look how those crossed swords are moulded, not painted, too . I surmse it's a 1920s ish copy.

Just a suggestion but I think it would like better without the paint. Also not sure what going on with his right arm. Almost looks like he lost it just above the elbow and someone transplanted the poor guy a whole new arm.
