Hi, saw this ceramic (?) moon flask on a flea market. Curious what time period and producer it can be. It's about 25 cm high, and about 20 cm wide. No mark on the bottom, the bottom is not glazed. Also curious why it has 2 sets of handels?

Mila, would/could you post a photograph of the bottom as well? Even unmarked and unglazed, there may be information to be found there.

2 sets of 'straps' would allow a web sling, suggesting a canteen of some sort...fragile as it may be.

This kind of thing, except yours is probably purely decorative:

I've had one, of carved & color-decorated wood, with a small, corked mouth an' a cord sling. It turned out to be a contemporary copy of an older design for a powder flask. If I find it...an' remember...it'll be posted here. Or it may have been already...I can't recall. How it is, y'know?

I'm no expert but it appears fairly "fresh" to me. I think French style, perhaps Rouen style, however I'd sort of expect it might be marked if so. So not very helpful but I'd guess not terribly old if you're accepting guesses based on what we can see.

I bet that's Portuguese. They make a lot of "replicas" of objects.

Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge!
After you mentioned it, it looks kind of new to me too :) I also made more photos of the bottom and upper part. Curious if supports the modern Portuguese origin of this piece.
