I’m thinking this is an ashtray but I cannot find this Capo mark anywhere. I can’t believe it’s flowers are not damaged!

There isn't such a thing as real Capodimonte any more, the factory is long gone. Yours will be a modern "in the style of".

How can it be an ashtray, and what's with all the grooves around the bottom?

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

I wonder whether it was mounted into a base of some kind?

Ma bought back bits from Italy in the late 50s which had those flower decorations. I suspect it's about that period or early 60s. I'd speculate it had an underplate with ridges.

What would it have been used for? The size is what made me think ashtray @Ownedbybear

The ones she had were jsut decoration, rather than any real purpose.
