My client purchased this fantastic decorative plate in the late 60's during a trip to Athens, Greece. I just love it and was wondering if anyone recognized the artist? The theme reminds me of Odysseus. Am I off here? The diameter is approx. 12.75".
    Thanks!

Odysseus is probably right, unless artist just meant to celebrate Greece's seafaring history in a more general way. I would go with Odysseus. I do not see any clear clues that it depicts any particular episode in the Odyssey.

Trying to make sense of the name on the back, which, as you can see, is not written in the Greek alphabet. I'm seeing Egeveio. It makes a little sense to me if the 'v' is actually a lower case nu, so it reads Egeneio, but I'm reaching.

Maybe someone knowledgeable about ceramics will be able to put a name to the decoration technique used.

Is it me or do some of the parts of the ship look like rams horns in which case it could be Jason and the Argonauts.

Thanks for looking. I didn't see any ram's heads - could you point out where you are seeing them? I saw a model of the argo boat and it looked a bit different with only a center sailing mast?
