Hi guys, this is the first time I buy a pearl decorated item, looked pretty and was cheap. Wonder what style and period
it can be classified to, maybe Czech 1930s? Or later? The clasp seems from this period, or am I mistaken? The pearls are faux and have holes as if taken from a necklace.
    Any thoughts are very welcome.
    Thank you for watching!

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

I can't really see the full design of the clasp itself. And maybe wouldn't know the answer anyway. But could you take a picture of the clasp from the side, so that we can see the mechanism better?

That’s an unusual looking clasp. I’m interested to hear what others say about it.

I have seen similar ready-made clasps on base metal Amsterdam School jewellery, period 1920s-30s.
I would guess this cutie is 1930s, but don't know about Czech.
    @Ownedbybear ?:)

Thank you, Figtree3, I attach the clasp from the side

Thank you, KSW, to me it also looked somehow unusual. I can't formulate why and besides I have little experience with clasps in
particular and in general with jewelry.

Thank you, Any! I have read somewhere in Internet that this type of clasp (or at least similar to it) was used as an early and more simple safe type, in the beginning of 20th c. but Internet is not to be trusted. In you I trust

Here the safest bet is Czech :joyful: There is so much Czech jewelry around, I still remember the Czechoslovakian Culture Centre where they sold Jablonex jewelry and Bohemian crystal vases. Not cheap for the
standard though. Or German if before WWII. And USSR after that, of course. Here it would be extremely unusual to find a Victorian item. Not impossible, but with extremely low probability.

Unless it is some local artisan make but given the nice looks I doubt it.

The original pearls may have fallen out or been damaged; the ones currently in the brooch are fairly recently made.

Thank you, evelyb30, it makes sense as the pearls are obviously taken from or meant for a necklace and also they don't look damaged or bruised. Which is very unusual with older faux pearls. So yes, it is very probable that the pearls have been replaced rather recently.

Thank you! As I had thought, I can't help with the date. :)

Figtree3, every look and perspective is of help, and I really appreciate yours! You were so right to ask for this photo as indeed the clasp is not well visible from the other one. And now it can serve someone else, more experienced with clasps and brooches. You did very good. Thank you!
