looking for thoughts on this sideboard. going to see today.
i'm told it's period but not by an expert. don't recognize the figure on pulls and not sure i'm seeing pre centennial.

Well, it's crotch flame mahogany veneer so you got THAT going for you, is it period? I don't know with the photos provided but I kinda doubt it is just because.
Yeah, me either but the odd thing about the pulls to me is, you don't have any on the flanking cellarette drawers. As bottles of wine, brandy, etc are heavy it seems to me they should have them and, as they are open in the center photo, I see no joinery. Could be just a bad photograph though.

But it does have working keyholes. It may not be as old as it wants to be, but it's old. If the price is reasonable for a hunk of furniture and I needed one of those, I might not care.

A BUYER emerges! Good points all, even if not period and the SIZE is on the smaller side of this form and the price is right.........
I remain convinced without any evidence that because southern sideboards (hunt boards) are SMALL, they are very hot in the marketplace.

It's looking more period all the time, how about photos of the back, back of drawers, drawer sides, etc
It's 19th century for sure, Ruth was correct.
    The drawers are beaded
The inlay is barber pole & bell flowers

    Take your time, no rush.
Just thinking, if those pulls are a likeness of TJ, it's not a good sign, period-wise.
Federal furniture period is 1790-1825 and we imported virtually ALL brass furniture hardware from England until the 1830s ( colonists were forbidden from engaging in foundry/metal biz).
Very unlikely the Brits would be putting ANY likeness of a founding father on stamped furniture pulls, considering the recent war.

Still, as Ruth said, it's old whether period or not, I'll guess 2nd half 19th century.

    Beautiful!
Jefferson died July 4, 1826, so maybe the T.J. pulls are commemorative.
