    Hello glass people. I have this beautiful Fenton cranberry coin spot ginger jar with the original glass plinth but no lid. Would anyone have ideas on where I could find one? Ebay has been a zero, unless my search terms "fenton jar lid" are wanting. I put a request with pics on the Facebook Fenton collectors group with no answers there so I'm turning to the best resource for all things beautiful! Any help is greatly appreciated!

    Have you tried contacting Replacements to see if they have one?

    Thanks @TallCakes. I already had a good idea of what oit should sell for with the lid but hadn't seen the lid only auction. Maybe @Kronos could let me know what that sold for and when.

    I will check and see if Replacements has a lid, I'm afraid it might be too pricey though. Can't hurt to check though.

    @johnnycb09 it is a pretty thing, no?

    Thanks for the help y'all!

    If someone just saw the lid and not the jar would they be able to relate it to Fenton? It is quite ordinary on its own. Maybe try looking for a jar that is damaged so it is cheap, but with a good lid and do a swapsy

    Thanks for the idea! I'll continue to do some searches without using Fenton as a term.

    Good luck. Might be a long mission but it will be worth it if you find one.

    @Kronos Thank you so much!
    @Chinoiserie It does look like a long haul but definitely worthwhile. Thanks again.

    Oh, Replacements.com has 2, count them, only 2 Fenton ginger jars and 1 lid, all French opalescent hobnail.

    Is the lid marked?

    If not I would widen the search to include "domed black handled lid" or a combination of those words. You may end up looking at a lot of black lids but you may end up getting a deal on one also. ;):smuggrin::smuggrin:

    BTW did anyone else notice that the one Worthpoint listing had the plinth upside down in their photos? :oops::oops:

    I haven't had a Fenton ginger jar before so I don't know if the lid would be marked. I will run some searches using those terms as well. Thanks for the suggestion!

    Upside-down plinth is funny but somehow it doesn't surprise me anymore. So many people haven't a clue about what they're selling or buying. And I (and most of us here) burn way too many hours digging for attributions and info on my stuff.

    This will be hard to find but I think you can do it if you're patient. It would be well worth it. I think it's unlikely the lid will be marked. I've always wondered how many perfectly good and sought after lids went in the trash because no one recognized them without the jar. If someone told me the jar and lid were separated at the auction for this item, I would believe it! I've seen that happen. I've spent some time at auctions reuniting the odd piece with the set it goes with. At least now, all of us will be looking also.

    @lvetterli - You may want to post in the "wanted" section.

    You just never know what is lying around at some thrift shop in another city where some members live. :happy::happy:
