It is two crown over v marks and as I read the first mark was done twice it also has initials and a date on butt. It reads 1724 and whatever initials are 20210909_111425_resize_42.jpg

Well, I'm seeing an "a" near the end but could be wrong, but can't make out the rest. Can't see Boutet there.

    Maybe Sloan at the end?

Also pretty sure that this is the first English hallmark. Could be mistaken but as my research has led me to believe. The second hallmarks I think was crown over V and other a crown over G

The date on the butt was put on in the 18th century. By one of the owners. I could have added 2020 wouldn't make it a 21st century proof marks are from around 1632

I never saw whole weapon, maybe on another thread? The inscription in three lines would typically have been first name, last name, place (city.). First line is of course Nicholas, last name is hard to decipher, the town is probably what needs to be deciphered next. Then it is a simple matter to look up a Nicholas ____ who worked there.

The point is that you only mentioned the date 1724, which is 18th century.

Only people who have seen (and remember) your previous thread, where people asked for better pictures, can possibly know that over 4 months ago you mentioned a date 1637. If they have perfect memories, that is.
