All came to about £66 with fees

Nice assortment of things, looking forward to picking them up tomoz, primarily because there is a macdonalds next door

My favourite the lion door stop (£12)

One pic is all, but I kinda like that

Wouldn't the watercolour be better, if it was just the hooded lady in the boat drifting by

Search term "Canova lions" for the lion figurine.

    Yeah similar, recumbent lions

I'm guessing some kind of stoneware pottery, given the glaze

It's the red main that makes it, looks charming

    Fingers crossed its not plaster

Who knows yet ss, one pic is all they give, no dimensions or even what it's made from

Staffordshire it ain't, the base should reveal all, will let you know

I've done that before, and ended up with something that was too big to fit in the car when I went to collect!

I'd get a UV on the green beads. You may also be lucky on the others.

I'm completely clueless when it comes to jewelry- what would UV light show? Thanks -Joe

If the green is uranium glass, a fabulous bright glow. If the yellow are amber, then they will fluoresce.

Mixed bag of results, but still happy with what I got

    Not uranium glass :(

Door stop is plaster or chalkware

Beads are huge long bakelite tested

    Pepperette is Indian grade silver

And the painting is an original watercolour beauty, far better than I thought it would be

And the Macdonalds was better than all of them, you know when you get in that zone, and time seems to stand still

How did you test for bakelite? The formula 409 one is the only one I know

    Hi ss

I didn't even have to, could smell it straight away

Cheapest way is a cotton swab, spit and baking soda

There's no is it, isn't it

    Always very conclusive

I usually just dunk the q-tip in water, squeeze out extras, and then dunk in the baking soda (sodium bicarbonate) and rub. Wouldn't even need to on these except for butt-covering if I listed them for sale.

What colour would you say evey ?

Ones in hand are a more realistic colour than other pic

Egg yolk maybe. Butterscotch. They started life bright yellow, but oxidised to what we see now.

Agreed. I really like the painting. Seems to be in good overall condition. Maybe 1920’s or so?(I don’t really know) Is that a signature in the bottom left corner?
