When @i need help did her amazing brooch giveaway she was so kind and included a locket for my daughter. It has an Arabic looking symbol on it. Almost at the same time coincidentally I bought a job lot of jewellery from the US that included this GF bangle which also has an Arabic type symbol on it!. The parcel had been MIA for several weeks and turned up yesterday! The bangle is FMCo tracked down to Finberg Mfg Co which was in existence from the very late 1800s and known for making compacts. Similar ones (but not identical) on internet say Victorian. 7cm across. The locket is WCco as yet unidentified ( unless INH has remembered from her previous research 12mm across. Any ideas please about the symbols as I don’t know where to start with those. Thankyou for looking
The Old English alphabet has many subtleties, but here’s a basic for comparison.....never mind.....sniped!!!!!!! But I think it’s a ‘C’ on the bangle......IMHO!!
Yep, I can clearly see the D now it’s been pointed out . Not so sure about the bangle though. Even in old English that’s a leap of faith!
I need to study calligraphy I think!. All I can see is a boat..... Are we happy with the dating for both as late Victorian?
I believe you! And completely see that now. You know what it’s like when your brain sees a boat and flatly refuses to see anything else. I’ve bullied it into submission now and it sees a D & a C!.
