    Hi,
This little carving is a cougar, is that a bird on the top? It looks like an eye and beak to me.
The writing on the back looks like it is by a young person.
    Any information appreciated.
    thanks for looking

Frederika or Frederike Underwood? Possibly a daughter of Alexi; from a bio on Mymondotrading.com:
"Alexi Underwood is a member of the Coast Salish First Nation, born 1962. He also is of Campbell River Kwagiulth (Kwakwaka’wakw) descent. He credits his grandfather Laquse Hamis James for being his teacher and mentor as well as his mother Marie Moody. Alexi is very passionate about his carvings and is very proud to work and present the traditional characteristics of his family's artwork."
The mixed heritage might explain the rather loose usage of NW Coast Native forms; some of her forms would be considered "correct" for Kwaguilth; others not so much.
The Coast Salish are a bit outside the traditional area of the Northern form-line style, though many Coast Salish artists have adopted traditional form-line styles from neighboring First Nations bands.
