I thought this was a Gar fish mount that I found at a local thrift store today; it's long (43"), but has a round mouth instead of a pointy one with needle sharp teeth - what is this fish?
    Thank you!
PS - It's made of metal. so I guess it's a copy of the fish, not a actual taxidermy, right?
    Thanks again.

Not a gar - it's an ocean fish. I've seen them before but can't remember the name

Anyone seen a taxidermy or mounted one, because I can't find one. - If it's a metal copy (like mine), can I still call it taxidermy?
    Thanks all

The “derm” in taxidermy is skin. Not taxidermy.

ahh - I thought there were 2 ways to do it - mount the caught fish/animal or they make a copy?
So what should I call it?
    Thanks!
