Featured Fitz and Floyd add value?

Guess I am asking in relation to these trinket boxes but also in general. Two of these have the F&F label. At one point I considered carrying their line but decided it too pricey. Are there collectors? What do they look for? Worth seeking out for resale?

Fitz and Floyd is collected, but how much collectors pay depends on the item. On the other paw, small decorative boxes always sell; it's just a question of how much.

    I like them Brad.
I sold something from F&F but I can't remember. Will look at my solds to see if I can find it.

I would say yes, adds value. Their products are definitely above average.

But as Evelyb said, really depends on the item.

When I see their label I definitely take a second look.

Hey Brad, I do like these boxes regardless of the F&F mark. They're blue and attractive and I think the 2 round ones would be an easy sale if not too costly.

That said, when I was buying for resale, I avoided F&F items. Most of what I saw was Christmas oriented and too guady. But I noticed that I couldn't get it at auction at a good price so I assumed the buyer who wanted it wasn't a dealer and they were paying a smidge under retail. That's why cost is so important. F&F is not a high value brand (IMHO).

@janetpjohn be careful here letting folks know you can read and or translate an Asian language !:D

They already know she can read Japanese marks. So can several others. That doesn't mean they can read and/or translate Japanese or any other Asian language.

Thanks for the explanation AJ & Janet-guess I'll still be waiting for a Language Avatar to join our club.:sour::D
...or a truly intelligent AI (or maybe not ?).
PS- @Figtree3 I have actually gotten answers from AAF- but it took some work (including some polite nagging !).They may have some fine translators over there (as Whit has said)-but getting responses there takes perseverance.

This is a good point that the newer F&F (Christmas, etc.) might not be the same quality. It's all made in China now. Pieces from the 1960s and those earlier decades were better made and can be of more interest, again, depending on the item.

The two larger boxes are the F&F marked ones. I paid $3.00 for the largest one and $2.00 each for all the others. I really just bought them because I think they have a good look and can make a few bucks on them. I will probably put $12.00 on the largest one and under $10.00 on all the rest. Was actually kind of surprised to find the the F&F marks on them.

When I was looking at their line in the 90s, they were showing a lot of flamboyant majolica pieces. I was in their showroom in Highpoint, NC and the large display was impressive. I felt like I needed to invest in quite a bit of inventory to make enough of an impact on our display floor. We were primarily a furniture store so really couldn't justify the expenditure.

When I see these pieces on the secondary market, they are almost always chipped. They seem to be made of a rather soft ceramic and not particularly durable. Looking just now, I do see some of these pieces commanding good money now. This is the type of thing I am talking about.

    Not my pictures.....

That monkey teapot reminds me of Mottahedeh items which sell very well in my experience.

That's an excellent comment. The newer pieces turn up a lot and as Brad said, many pieces are chipped, sometimes just the glaze chips off. I'd forgotten about the older pieces I guess because I don't see them much.

Might as well 'borrow' from the best. This is a 1993 Minton reissue by R. Doulton ($750 !).

Must say though the original 19th cent piece is a darn cute little simian, and three to six thousand bucks more !
-but look at that face ! How can you resist ?

Mottadeh -- I was trying to remember that name. Good quality and I sold a couple of pieces on ebay years ago. They did sell for higher values.

Fitz and Floyd seemed to be similar to Otagiri wares from Japan. Better quality and design than the usual Japanese offerings.
