Hi, This is a piece I pull out every now and then to see if I can figure it out but still not finding anything quite the same - metal flock of birds on a marble base - about 10" x 11"H. Not sure what kind of metal, a magnet sticks on the birds. Maybe something mid century? No marks anywhere. I've used image search, tried metal flock of birds - any ideas on keywords I could try or any information is appreciated. Thanks for looking
I never noticed that before but think you are right Aaron, thank-you they are really sharp on the ends, I hate handling this.
I've found some other mid-century "brutalist" abstract sculptures made with these same style of nails (in particular by William Bowie) - but I'm not seeing any other flocks of birds/bats like this one.
Yes, they could be bats, thanks cluttered! I think it is pretty cool too! Amazing what you can find with the correct key words - I should have asked here sooner, I'm finding several artists that do nail art
Yes, there are some very talented people out there! I'm not finding birds or bats either but the night is still young, lol! Thanks for your help aaron
Yes! JUST beat me to it! - And they are surely seagulls. This medium was popular in the 70s and I did some of it.
@cxgirl This guy does work similar. Maybe shoot him an email http://coreyellisart.com/work/sculptures/
thanks for all the replies folks I'm thinking birds also! thank-you MOS! too funny desperate, I saw his work and thought the samething so I sent him an e-mail last night - he responded this morning and it isn't his work, he also pointed out they are horseshoe nails. He thinks 1970s.
