Framed embroidery --would this be from a kit?

    Any ideas if this would be from a kit, or someone's own art? Not 100% embroidery, looks like there is a separate layer of brown fabric across the center, would a kit have included something like this? Thanks!

    Looks like a Crewel Embroidery kit on burlap.

    Thank you Holly and King.

    It looks like something out of a kit, I just didn't know if those kits sometimes included pieces of fabric to sew on like this one has with that brown strip. That's what threw me off. (You can tell I don't do needlework. :rolleyes:)
