I found these thrifting today. They are beautifully, professionally framed. I Google Lensed them, the Neptune one, I saw a few. Mine has a bit of damage on the certificate, upper left corner. On both, you are sering light/tree reflections, photographed outdoors. The Golden Dragon one is the big mystery- I am not seeing any like it on the internet. I did see reproduction cloth placemats with this image. I know why they were given (my uncle had the Neptune one, different version.)
    Questions:
I know the designs varied through the ages... were different designs made by different companies during the same time periods? Or were they all made by Tiffany Publishing out of Norfolk like these two?
Mine are dated 1965, I guess Viet Nam era. When did awarding them start?
What makes a particular design more valuable? Is there a cataloging reference of these designs online somewhere? Thanks.

I paid $16 each for them...I know I paid quite a bit to have my uncle's professionally framed.

Update: I found Tiffany Publishing online, and I contacted them asking if I could send a picture of my Golden Dragon certificate to them and get more info.

I think they go back at least to WWII. There's a Golden Shellback certificate too, to complete the trifecta.

There's an Emerald Shellback certificate, too. Here's a link to the company's current certificates- I found it fascinating! I will share what they tell me about the Golden Dragon print.
There is a militaria-focused dealer in the next town- I plan on trading these for jewelry. These cost $28.75, blank, they can be personalized by the company. Somebody on ebay is selling the current blank Golden Dragon prints for $75 on ebay, has sold eight of them already.

    I wouldn't be surprised if an artist w/ a Disney-type rendered those.
*Note-Not saying they are WDP,just reminiscent of.

I have one from WWII, and one from Korean War, and they are more roughly done, like something they did up on board the ship.

Maybe in later years they kept them on board ships. I will post my uncle's that he indeed receive on ship in the 60s. I also think perhaps the graphics improved as the decades moved on. Hoping to hear from Tiffany Publishing about it.

I'll try and dig them up, scan, and post today, for comparison.

I either misremembered, or I can't find the crossing the equator certificate from WWII. Since I was digging through the military memorabilia I have, I thought I might as well show what I do have related to these line crossings, in case you find it interesting.
    1) Sep 1943 WWII announcement of the equator line crossing ceremony for USS Lexington (CV-16) not long after arriving in the Pacific after its launch and shakedown.

    2) Summons to appear before the Royal High Court of King Neptune, Sep 1943, USS Lexington (CV-16). (This may be what I mistakenly remembered as the certificate, which it isn't).
    navy003s.jpg
    3) Golden Dragon certificate from July 1951, Korean War. This was aboard the USNS Brewster, a transport ship that the named sailor was taking to Japan to meet the warship he'd been assigned to.
